Change a YubiKey PIN

YubiKey Manager app

Create/Change the PIN

1. Open the YubiKey Manager app.
2. Click Applications > FIDO2.
3. For a new/reset YubiKey, click the Set Pin button. Enter and confirm a PIN and click the Set PIN button.
4. For an already-configured YubiKey, you'll need to know the current PIN to change it. If you do not know the current PIN, you must reset the YubiKey following the instructions below. If you do know the current PIN:
   1. Click the Change PIN button.
   2. Enter the current PIN, then enter and confirm a new PIN and click the Change PIN button.

Reset a YubiKey

1. Open the YubiKey Manager app.
2. Clear any OTP configurations on the YubiKey:
   1. Click Applications > OTP.
   2. If either slot is configured, the Delete button will be enabled for that slot.
   3. Click the Delete button.
   4. You'll be prompted to confirm this operation, click the YES button.
3. Clear any FIDO2 configurations on the YubiKey:
   1. Click Applications > FIDO2.
   2. Click the Reset FIDO button.
   3. You'll be prompted to confirm this operation, click the YES button.
   4. Remove the YubiKey and reinsert it, then touch the YubiKey's gold contact.
